Welcome to Ask the Panel
This is your forum for advice on all aspects of stamps and postal history, whether it be a simple matter of identification or the answer to a puzzle over mail routing or postal rates. We will also offer advice regarding the value of items although this will be couched in general terms, outlining the factors affecting value and pointing out the pitfalls, rather than making a specific estimate.
In the end, it is a matter of supply and demand that governs the precise value of anything, anywhere at any given moment. We will not give opinions regarding genuineness; this is a highly complicated business which is more properly the province of professional experts and expert committees.

| Q: Can your panel offer any advice on the best way of handling used examples of self-adhesive stamps? I have tried soaking them off their backing paper, but with very mixed results. |

| Q: Most of the mail I get these days, other than Christmas cards, doesn't have an adhesive stamp, but either a meter mark or some kind of printed mark inscribed POSTAGE PAID. Are these items of 'junk mail' of any interest to collectors? |
